Naoi Japanese architecture & design office (Katsutoshi Naoi, Noriko Naoi) have revealed images of its new project, “Casa de Rio”, a two-storey house situated on the banks of the River Tone in Ibaraki Prefecture. Designed for couples, residence seeks to capitalize on their proximity to water by creating a structure seemingly disappears, allowing the interior to establish a direct dialogue with its surrounding landscape.
With windows on all sides, the top-level living space is developed as a continuous area, resulting in an open and flexible. The form provides gable a large vertical space and views to the water funnels. A wooden platform, 60 cm high, served as the circulation of connection between the backbone of the public and private programs offering a
different point of view, while the definition of the different areas of the interior. Led by a covered balcony that runs around the house, the boundary between inside and outside is ambiguous.
The ground floor has a living streak that also provides direct visual access to river . A horizontal sliding door with wooden slats creates an interior space that is susceptible to natural sunlight and the sight lines.
